5 Things To Do In Public Because You’re Comfortable With Your Body And Don’t Care Who Knows It

Do you ever wonder how you can express to the world how comfortable you are with your body and your sexuality? Do you feel the need to walk into crowded restaurants talking very loudly about HYMENS so people choose your conversations to eavesdrop on?  Well then, do I have some tips for you!

1) Next time you have a UTI and you’re out to brunch with your lady friends SATC style (P.S. can we talk about how terrible The Carrie Diaries looks?  Kill me.) point to your crotch and sing THIS GIRL IS ON FIRE!

2) Next time you’re painting the fun house red (get it?) while seducing (you saucy minx!) a potential pants-remover, spend your second cocktail together thinking up some creative euphemisms for period sex.  Examples include:

  • Driving the Blood Mobile to Schenectady
  • Doing the Last Scene of Hamlet, With Genitals
  • Salsa Dancing at the Y
  • Menstrucourse
  • Reenacting the Battle of Gettysburg — In My Pants
  • Al Gore
  • Pussy UFC
  • Making Manicotti Marinara

Points for creativity.

3) Buy a Divacup and then explain how it works to everyone you know.

4) Ask your brother how many body parts he can think of that are only 2 letters long.  Guess who has a kick-ass os?!

5) Volunteer at Planned Parenthood and then awkwardly tell your friends about the female condoms you pick up there (follow that link.  You will not regret it!).

Well done everyone.  Now we can party with fellow jewess Sarah Silverman!

Choices Choices Are No Fun…

Last month, after an upsetting phone conversation with her estranged husband, Ms. Taylor became light-headed and fell down a flight of stairs in her home. Paramedics rushed to the scene and ultimately declared her healthy. However, since she was pregnant with her third child at the time, Taylor thought it would be best to be seen at the local ER to make sure her fetus was unharmed.

Alone, distraught, and frightened, Taylor confided in the nurse treating her that she hadn’t always been sure she’d wanted this baby, now that she was single and unemployed. She’d considered both adoption and abortion before ultimately deciding to keep the child. The nurse then summoned a doctor, who questioned her further about her thoughts on ending the pregnancy. Next thing Taylor knew, she was being arrested for attempted feticide. Apparently the nurse and doctor thought that Taylor threw herself down the stairs on purpose.

The pro-life movement isn’t about saving lives, it’s about taking autonomy and decision making power from women. If you’re a woman who would never have an abortion, I support you.  I hope I never have to have one.  However, there is no need to make laws which force women to make your decision.

Being anti-choice is like someone mandating veganism for the whole country because they ‘know’ better and don’t trust you to be smart enough to also make that ‘right’ choice.  Anti-choice-ness is the taking away of women’s decision making power because women aren’t capable of being smart decision makers.  As a smart female decision maker I could never support it.

I’m Atlas

You think abortion is wrong? Don’t have one. I think killing people is wrong, so I’m not in the army. My tax dollars still go to fund it, though (in fact about 21 cents of each of my tax dollars). My tax dollars also go to keep prisoners on death row even though I think the death penalty is morally wrong. My tax dollars fund Guantanamo and Bagram, extraordinary rendition, and Jim DeMint’s salary, all of which I find disgusting. So why is abortion, a legal medical procedure, so remarkably different that we have to go overboard making sure tax dollars don’t fund it?

— Sarah Jaffe

When I get to heaven I’ll have to answer for my sin of paying for guns that kill people in the Middle East.  That’s my cross to bear.  You’ll just have to be satisfied that we’ll be equal in having to confront our gods for the choices other people made for us.

Stupid or Evil?

Jon Stewart shows everyone how the right wing is trying to screw over women because women are easy to screw over.  If you don’t have time to watch the whole clip scoot to minute 3.

Conservatives are trying to pass a law that will cut all federal funding from Planned Parenthood.

They’re saying that this law will stop federal money from going to abortions.  However as Jon points out there’s already a law stopping federal money from going towards abortion procedures.  The Hyde Amendment.  I sure hope that anyone proposing laws knows their history well enough to know about the Hyde amendment.  This new law will not cut funding for abortions, it will cut funding for cancer screenings and pap smears for poor women.  Screenings and smears that save lives.

So my question is this.

Rep. Mike Pence from Indiana, are you stupid or evil?
