The End

21 Oct

When my best friend finally made the decision to move on from her ex the final straw was realizing that he wanted to engage in a battle we called “care-less-ing” where the person who seemed to care less, was less attached, was the winner. And she played the game for a while even though she really didn’t want to. She is a very caring person and would rather spend her time baking him cupcakes to show how much she loves him than ignoring his text messages just to prove a point.

This is looking like a contest,
Of who can act like they care less,
But I liked it better when you were on my side.
The battle’s in your hands now,
But I would lay my armor down
If you said you’d rather love than fight.

-Taylor Swift, The Story Of Us

When she realized that that was the game he wanted to play she decided that she had had enough.

No one who spent his time trying to act like he cared less was worth all the love she had to give. And so she did stop returning his calls, she quit him cold turkey, she fell in love with someone else and she hasn’t looked back.

Cheers to that. Either love me with your words and your actions or leave me for someone who will. Nothing in between. No games. No mess.

In the meantime I’ll be here owning up to my own feelings.

Owning your own feelings, rather than blaming them on someone else, is the mark of a person who has moved from contracted to expanded awareness.”
