You Can’t Make Homes Out Of Human Beings

1 Jul

One of my best friends has a sister who is in a relationship with a dude who may or may not be good enough for her.

And when my friend talks about her sister she shows me pictures of her sister happy and carefree and says “This is the girl I know.” And then she shows me pictures of her sister now and says “She doesn’t look happy anymore.”

People say that relationships are about compromise. But I say life is about being who you are. Unashamedly, unabashedly, unconditionally yourself.

And if someone wants you to be softer, prettier, less volatile, less awake, is that relationship more important than your life?

Remember not to change.
