Feminist Practice Principles

13 Mar

My darling best friend sent me this the other day.  I think they’re wonderful rules to live by.

I keep hearing that the only way to move through our world every day is to ignore the problems and then allow yourself to get upset about them later.

I like the idea of letting these principles guide your life.  That way instead of being upset about Issue X you can just work every day to be the best version of yourself.

“The less you think about your oppression, the more your tolerance for it grows. After a while, people just think oppression is a normal state of things. But to become free, you have to be acutely aware of being a slave.”
~Assata Shakur (via theblacksophisticate)

I think being a feminist means you see the world whole instead of half. It shouldn’t need a name – and some day it won’t.
