My Raggedy Doctor

Diana: (Seeing a child crying) What’s wrong, little one? Child: They won’t let me play pirates with them. Diana: And why not? Child: Because I’m the girl, and they need someone to save. Diana: … Child: It’s okay. I don’t even know how to sword fight. Diana: (Glances at the boys who are playing pirates) Neither do they. In battle, they’d be slaughtered instantly. Would you like me to teach you how to sword fight? Diana: (She picks up a stick) They’re using the horizontal cut, but in close like they are…the thrust is a better move as it’s more likely to cause real injury…and less likely to be blocked by your opponent. Do you understand? Child: Uh-huh. Diana: (She hands the sword-stick to the child) Now go. Unleash hell. -Wonder Woman '09

Happy birthday! Motorcycle man… mmmm. I don’t comment often, but I enjoy when I see you’ve posted again (I get emails when you do.)

The Wonder Woman thing made me think of some articles I read recently, about how women are less likely to feel confident about something and not want to try it, not realizing that the men around her don’t know anything more than she does, but are going ahead and doing it (for better or for worse) because society encourages them to take action but scrutinizes women. That sounds like a big generalization, so I ought to find the original article. But it’s late. 🙂 Happy birthday again!!!
